I’ve got nothing clever to say this week, so let’s just cut to the chase here.
Steam’s got weekly deals, with 305 products on sale this week. Sadly, once again, there’s no real standouts, at least as far as I’m concerned.
Green Man Gaming is having a space and future themed summer sale, including XCOM, Deus Ex, and a bunch of Star Wars games, to name a few. Also, they’ve officially discontinued the voucher code system. That’s not to say you don’t still get extra discounts; if you make a GMG account (which is free, if you were wondering), you’ll be able to see the “best price” on any games marked with a VIP corner, which is a price with discounts already factored in. I’m not sure if this means you can no longer get discounts on any game you want, though. I’ll get back to you on that.
It looks like I was slightly mistaken; the summer sale wasn’t exclusively space and future themed, that was just the first set of games. The deals will be changing every two days. At the moment, the theme is RPGs, including Gauntlet, Borderlands, and Shadow of Mordor. This will be changing soon to multiplayer games, followed by action games, strategy games, and survival games. Notable deals will be posted as they come.
Apparently not one to be outdone by GMG, GamersGate has begun a Bethesda Week of their own, with sales on Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein, DOOM, and all that other stuff you probably have already (but hey, if you do, tell a friend, I guess).
Best Buy has begun a little something they like to call “Black Friday in July” on their online store. Sounds dumb, but there are some pretty good deals on console games, including Super Mario Maker, Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid V, and Star Wars Battlefront, to name a few. Act fast, though, these deals are gone in a couple of days.
Hmph, another slow week. Oh well, check back in a couple of days; maybe there’ll be some good midweek deals.
