Nintendo releases 2015 holiday schedule


Nintendo is planning on finishing off 2015 with a holiday packed with gaming fun for everyone, as they announced their lineup of holiday titles and special offers recently. With both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS receiving a huge number of mostly exclusive games.

“Nintendo has games, amiibo and systems to satisfy all kinds of players, whether they’re looking for back-to-school gifts or getting an early start on their holiday shopping,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “No one can match the quality or uniqueness of what Nintendo has to offer for the rest of 2015.”

Starting off with a special edition bundle, available ecxlusively through WalMart, will include the upcoming Super Mario Maker video game, an idea book for the game, and the 30th Anniversary Mario Modern Color amiibo. This bundle will go on sale on September 11th, alongside the game itself, for $299.96. Super Mario Maker, the game itself, will be avaliable at most retailers on September 11th as well, for $59.99.

Launching on October 16th will include Yoshi’s Woolly World for the Wii U, and a new combo pack including New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U, both for just $59.99. October will also see the new Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water released on the Wii U’s eShop for $49.99, on the 22nd. Players can download the free-to-start game and play the prologue, chapter 1 and part of chapter 2 for free.

Rounding out the rest of the year we have Star Fox Zero on November 20th, Xenoblade Chronicles X on December th, and Devil’s Third launching on December 11th. Other titles coming out this holiday season from Nintendo include Animal Crossing: Ammibo Festival, and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, however these titles do not yet have concrete release dates.

Third parties will be releasing a few titles this holiday season for the Wii U, including the new Disney Infinity 3.0, launching on August 30th for $64.99. Skylanders SuperChargers starter pack for Wii U will launch on September 20th for $71.99. LEGO Dimensions rounds out the “toys in games” genre, launching on September 27th at a price if $99.99. October 20th sees both Guitar Hero Live and Just Dance 2016 both launch at $99.99 and $49.99, respectively.

Not to be left out of the fun, the Nintendo 3DS also sees plenty of hot titles released for it throughout the holiday season. With Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer launching September 25th, Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash on October 9th, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes on October 23rd, and Yo-Kai Watch will launch in the US on November 6th. Finishing up the Nintendo titles is Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon on the 20th of November.

Nintendo also announced that starting on August 20th, the Nintendo 2DS will be receiving a price drop from the current $129.99, to $99.99. The Nintendo 2DS is Nintendo’s non-folding, non 3D, not very much talked about anymore version of the 3DS.

To finish up the news is a some Amiibo news, with a new 3 pack of Mii Fighers from Super Smash Bros. will launch on November 1st. Mewtwo from Super Smash Bros. will launch on November 13. A Mega Yarn Yoshi, made from green yard, will go on sale November 1th, and Falco from Super Smash Bros. will go on sale on November 20th.
