Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has died at age 55.

This will not be a very long article, it probably isn’t even an article. The passing of any great mind is always a loss to the world, the passing of such a great, talented mind in the gaming world is a sad day for most, including me. I haven’t played very many Nintendo games in the past few years, but I always look at the games when they come out with such fondness, and such desire to play them.

Satoru Iwata was responsible for the rebirth of Nintendo with the Nintendo DS, and Wii consoles, and although the Wii U wasn’t selling like I am sure he would have liked, he was still dedicated to making sure Nintendo put out quality titles for the system. He was a great mind in the gaming world, a wonderful person, and a visionary who will be truly missed.

Nintendo announced the death today with a press release,

Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.

RIP Mr Iwata, you will be forever missed!

“On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer.” -Satoru Iwata, GDC 2005

A little about me! I've been gaming my whole life, and I sorta kinda like writing! Dragon Quest series is the best, but lately I'm a shooter/sports/MineCraft fanatic!
