In a new announcement on the game’s Kickstarter page, Wayforward has announced that Shantae: Half-Genie Hero will not be making its target release date of September 27th, 2016. The game will be pushed back approximately six weeks to allow for some extra bug checking and polish. The game is content complete, though, so once all outstanding bugs have been corrected and the 1st party publishers give their blessing, we’ll have a proper release date.
In addition, Wayforward has decided that, due to an overwhelming minority of backers selecting PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as their chosen platforms (about 1%), those versions of the game will be cancelled to save time. No word yet on whether backers will be able to change their platform of choice. Also, the game’s DLC plan has been outlined, with the two stretch goal bonus chapters included in the launch game, and the extra playable characters available later as paid DLC (though, backers at a high enough level will receive it for free).
