Xbox Play Anywhere launches in September


During E3, Xbox announced that Xbox Play Anywhere was coming to Xbox One and PC. Now we know when.

Microsoft has announced that they plan to release Xbox Play Anywhere to the masses on September 13th. This will allow Xbox live gamers to purchase games on Xbox One and play them on PC and vice versa. Xbox has been hounding PlayStation to jump aboard but the company has been reluctant to do so. If PlayStation were to join the Play Anywhere crusade, it would allow gamers from either system access to play across systems. As Andrew House of PlayStation explains, they are just not ready to make that leap.

“I always hesitate to be drawn into discussions of someone else’s strategy,” PlayStation president Andrew House recently said. “I’m more than happy to talk about our own strategy. Yes, there was a big emphasis from the folks at Microsoft on Xbox and PC cross-play. It remains to be seen whether there is latent large consumer demand for that.”


As you can tell, Microsoft has already decided to move on without PlayStation. So much so that they have already announced future games that will be available for Play Anywhere. The biggest obstacle will be to get other developers outside if Micrsofts own structure to release bigger titles. Below are the games announced so far.

It’s obvious that Microsoft has been making a good number of changes over the past few months. They have set in motion to release Xbox One S in August, Project Scorpio by the 2017 holidays, The question remains, will these changes, will these changes make Xbox One more competitive with PlayStation?
